How tutoring works for tutors
Apply once, complete verification, then teach and get paid through Knoiva — not personal Zoom links or off-platform cash.
1. Apply
Create a tutor account with email and OTP, then tell us your subjects, levels, and rates.
2. Verify
Upload government ID (front and back) and a profile photo. Admin reviews identity before you go live.
3. Onboard
Finish profile, intro video, payout method, and tax form (W-9 or W-8BEN). Listing needs the first three.
4. Teach
Accept bookings and Get Quote tasks. Run live Zoom sessions, quizzes, and Assignment Center work from your dashboard.
5. Get paid
After the escrow hold, withdraw via Stripe Connect or manual bank. Earnings are not guaranteed.
Earnings and payouts
Transparent math, a hold period, and two live payout rails. Nothing here is a guaranteed income claim.
Service fee and commission
Learners pay your listed tuition plus a platform service fee. Your payout is tuition minus the platform commission. Those are different numbers.
Escrow, then release
After a session or task completes, funds stay in hold for the configured period (typically 7 days) before they become payable.

Onboarding checklist
Listing goes live after profile, identity, and intro video. Payout and tax still matter for getting paid.
1. Profile
Bio, education, subjects, experience, languages, and timezone. This blocks search until it is complete.
2. Identity
Government ID front and back plus a profile photo. Admin reviews documents — this also blocks search.
3. Intro video
A short on-camera clip (about 30 seconds to 2 minutes) so families can hear how you teach.
4. Payout method
Connect Stripe Connect or submit manual bank details. This does not block search, but you need it to get paid.
5. Tax form
W-9 if you are in the US, or W-8BEN if you are not. Required for payouts; it does not hide you from search.

1:1 and group chats stay on Knoiva. Personal contact details are blocked so work does not move off-platform.
